Camping at Rivercross Meadow
I have just spent the most idyllic 5 days camping at my friends meadow. Just feel totally chilled and the people were absolutely lovely!! I didn't want to come home, damn month end!!

We spent the time sitting round the fire, swimming in the river, talking, drinking, knitting and communal cooking, it was heaven!
The lads collected firewood

And the girls cooked

There were kingfishers, buzzards, owls, mink, heron, otters and fish and the sky was so clear at night that you could actually see the milky way and we saw countless satellites and shooting stars. It was AWESOME and I will definitely be going again given a chance :)

Larmer Tree Festival
This weekend was Larmer Tree Festival it was absolutely fantastic despite the rain and mud! So much to see and do and so much fabulous music to listen to.
They had various art installations like these origami cranes in one of the temples

This is the Garden Stage, made totally from wood - how awesome is that!

There were lots of mad people dressed up :)

The mud!

The gardens were created by General Pitt Rivers, he was a soldier in the Crimea, Malta and Ireland and inherited the Rushmore Estate in 1880. He is regarded as the ‘Father of English Archaeology’ as he set about creating museums in Oxford and Farnham, as well as the Larmer Tree Gardens which he used as a sweetener for the public he wanted to educate. The gardens became a Victorian theme park and were hired out for parties with the resident band, made up of workmen from the estate, playing on the Garden Stage (above) every Sunday. After the General died the grounds fell into disrepair and opened only sporadically. The storms of 1987 and 1990 caused more damage but with help from English Heritage who classified the site as a ‘Garden of National Importance’ the gardens have been lovingly restored. They are well worth a visit as they are absolutely beautiful!

Chill time in the forest
On Saturday whilst visiting the Parents we had a walk in the forest, it was a beautiful sunny day and I couldn't pass up the opportunity.
I'd not realised how much I missed it and how much of a stress reliever it is! It was like a calm bubble surrounding me instantly. We went exploring off the beaten track and mushroom hunting. Must do it more often when visiting!

I loooove Charity Shop Shopping as I'm sure I've mentioned before :) I popped into the village near where I work for a spot of thrifty shopping and look what I got....a cute Union Jack handbag and some really cool stacking containers for the kitchen for the grand total of £3.50 :) My sort of retail therapy!

Nearly Free Cherry Plum Jam :)
I was getting a bit of fresh air at lunch the other day and spotted a cherry plum tree on the verge full of fruit so I roped in my friend to help me pick some to make nearly free Cherry Plum Jam. Well Jelly in this case as they are such small fruits and I didn't want to hook out loads of stones being the lazy mare that I am.
Step 1 - Put in a large saucepan and just cover with water.

Step 2 - Simmer until soft and mushy.

Step 3 - Strain in a jelly/muslin bag overnight.

Step 4 - Measure the liquid and for every pint put in 1lb sugar and put back in a saucepan and bring to a rolling boil.

Step 5 - Test for setting point. I use the saucer method.

Step 5 - Pot into sterilised jars. I recycle jam jars - wash the jars well and sterilise in a hot oven, put the lids in boiling water.

Step 6 - Eat on hot buttery crumpets. nom nom nom
